Microsoft 365 Power BI Report Builder – Intermediate

Overview

This course builds upon the concepts from the beginner course. It introduces parameters and integrates them with datasets for customized data selection, and teaches the creation of drop-down lists for interactive filtering. Participants will learn to enhance reports using expressions, apply visual formatting with alternating colors and conditional formatting, and correct bad data with expressions. The course covers the creation of Top N filters and running values, introduces functions such as IIF, SWITCH, and ROWNUMBER, and explores various chart types for reports and dashboards, including traditional charts, treemaps, sunburst charts, donut charts, funnel charts, and scatter plots. Expressions and parameters will be added to charts for customization and functionality. Advanced grouping techniques will be taught, including creating groups with expressions and manually creating hierarchies and grouping layers. The course also covers adding interactivity to reports through sorting, filtering, collapsible and expandable hierarchies, bookmarking, and document mapping. Finally, geographic maps, including heat maps and color maps, will be introduced to help analyze business data, and international maps will be created using spatial data from the Internet.
