Welcome to the “Understanding Six Sigma: The Define and Measure Steps” lesson, which dives into the first two steps of the DMAIC methodology, a tool for improving processes and reducing variation. This lesson is the fifth of nine in the “Expert Insights: Understanding Six Sigma with Steven Brown” course that’s designed to cover the basics of Six Sigma and Six Sigma project teams. Viewers will learn how to use a SIPOC diagram to determine the high-level view of a process, as well as two tools for process analysis, the Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and the Fishbone Diagram, or Ishikawa Diagram. After this lesson, viewers will have a solid understanding of the beginning steps of the DMAIC process.
