Launched in mid-2013, Amazon Web Service certifications have been new to the cloud training arena, but their average salaries have been on the rise, outshining many other common certifications such as CISSP, PMP, and CISA. Learn a bit more about these four high paying certs and see if adding one to your repertoire can add a couple commas to your salary.
AWS Certified Developer – Associate
Average Salary – $137,825
Prepare to get poached if you have this certification. With organizations in a rush to bring their development and content delivery to the cloud, they can’t hire talent fast enough. Getting your certified developer cert means you’ve got the power to handle Amazon Simple Storage Service, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon Simple Queue Service, Amazon Simple Notification Service, Amazon Simple Workflow Service, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, and AWS CloudFormation stacks. Phew.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional
Average Salary – $117,434
Companies that are looking to dip their toes into cloud computing are searching for developers with their Solutions Architect Professional certification. Abilities to evaluate cloud application requirements and make architectural recommendations for implementation, deployment, and provisioning applications on AWS make these folks worth their weight in gold.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
Average Salary – $114,935
Before anyone can even start bringing their code to the cloud, there has to be an architect that blueprints the design. Having loads of on-premise hardware is usually the bottleneck from lifting and shifting into the cloud, and a Certified Solutions Architect undoubtedly has the hands-on experience designing available, cost efficient, fault tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS, complete with hybrid models as well.
AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate
Average Salary – $108,046
Coming at the bottom of this short list is the SysOps Admin Certification. This is comparable to the entry level Amazon certification, yet is still banking with the six-figure average salary. With no prerequisites, an 80 minute test, free exam guides, and a $150 test price tag, learning about deploying web services for cloud storage, computing, and content delivery can be a pretty valuable investment.
